CaST Public Arts, as an affiliate of CaST Portfolio, was created to produce large-scale public art. With its connection to CaST School, CaST Public Arts is simultaneously a conduit for the creation and dissemination of public art, and a laboratory within which CaST teachers and students can explore ideation, production and management of the public art-making process. This version of teaching, drawing upon the education models of experiential, expeditionary and enterprise education, holds the promise and excitement of putting young people on the cutting edge of life in the City of Toronto.  

 

Immersive digital entertainment such as that provided by artists working with forms of light, color, imagery and style, in 2D and 3D exhibitions, is increasingly animating city life in the western world, and cities are buoyant with 21st century, computer graphics-driven opportunities to explore the unknown and the unbelievable. CaST Public Arts recognizes the potential for experiential learning wedded to public artmaking, and intends to be at the forefront of this unfolding process as it happens in Canada and around the world.
